NOTE: 1 box is 500g and consists of 5 abalones.

60,000 boxes sold since its first launch in Korea! Monthly average of 3,000 boxes sold in Korean top food retailer site!

Selected by the Michelin Guide Seoul for 4 consecutive years (from 2018-2022), the 25 year old restaurant, Gebang Restaurant or Gebang Sikdang (게방식당) specialises in crab stews. After the successful launch of their signature dish, Ganjang Gejang, we're back with more menu from this restaurant!
Ganjang Jeonbok Jan (간장전복장) or better known as Raw Abalone Marinated in Soy Sauce is made by marinating Wando abalone in soy-sauce based brine.
In case you didn't know — Wando, with clean sea and abundant seaweed, is the origin of abalone that produces over 80% abalones in Korea. Abalones from this island also have special taste and nutrition due to their growth in optimal conditions from optimal seaweed. Abalone is also known as the storage of proteins due to its low fat and high proteins, not forgetting its rich minerals and vitamins content.

Gebang Sikdang is a Korean modern styled restaurant created by Bang Geon-hyuk, the CEO and a former fashion marketer along with his parents who have 25 years of experience in selling crabs.

Korean dishes made with Korean traditional sauce are also found in old-fashioned food or restaurants. To narrow this gap, this restaurant was created to ensure individuals could eat Korean traditional food with a modern twist, in a fashionable way. CEO Bang now runs the business as a second generation where he blended food with sensual design to satisfy both the sense of sight and taste.

This savoury delicacy, Gebang Restaurant Soy Sauce Marinated Abalone, is made using high quality Wando abalones with special taste and nutrition due to their growth in optimal conditions from optimal seaweed  and combined with Gebang Sikdang's signature soy sauce made from kelp, pear, mushroom, dried red pepper, dried shrimp, etc.To ensure its freshness, we definitely recommend you to consume it within a few days.

The reason for its high pricing point is definitely thanks to the long amount of time taken to prepare this dish - from cleaning the abalones to simmering the sauce. Once you receive the product, remove the abalone from its shells and cut it into bite-size pieces (as preferred) and enjoy the abalone flesh soaked in flavourful soy sauce together with warm rice.

TIPS for table setting: If you're inviting your family, friends or guests over for a meal, rather than placing the abalones on the plate, we recommend you to cut it into small pieces (as you preferred) and place it neatly on the shells to create a stylish look.

Consumption Instructions

    • Keep refrigerated in the freezer. Due to varied temperatures, kindly thaw on the day before eating or a day before in the refrigerator. After thawing, please consume as soon as possible.
    • Remove the skin before placing the spoon deep between the abalone flesh and shell to easily separate the flesh.
    • Remove the teeth attached to the end of the flesh and cut into bite size pieces as preferred with a knife or scissors before serving.
    • TIPS: Mix the thick intestines hidden under the abalone flesh together with rice too  Soy Sauce Abalone Bibimbap is one the most popular menus in Gebang Sikdang too!
      • How to use the remaining soy sauce
        • Store the remaining soy sauce in the refrigerator and use it as a seasoning when making other side dishes (soy sauce braised beef, stir-fried anchovy, etc.)
        • Mix it with warm rice and eat it with unseasoned seaweed or add it to various stews and seafood dishes to double the taste.
        • It is recommended to store the remaining soy sauce for 24 hours only, after thawing. This is due to varied fridge conditions.
