Selected by the Michelin Guide Seoul for 4 consecutive years (from 2018-2022), the 25 year old restaurant, Gebang Restaurant or Gebang Sikdang (게방식당) specialises in crab stews. After the successful launch of their signature dish, Ganjang Gejang, we're back with more menu from this restaurant!
Ganjang Saeu (간장새우) or better known as Raw Prawns Marinated in Soy Sauce is made by marinating chewy prawns in soy-sauce based brine. Perfect for days when you miss the firm texture of prawns or on a day when you feel like having some savoury soy sauce based dish.

Gebang Sikdang is a Korean modern styled restaurant created by Bang Geon-hyuk, the CEO and a former fashion marketer along with his parents who have 25 years of experience in selling crabs.

Korean dishes made with Korean traditional sauce are also found in old-fashioned food or restaurants. To narrow this gap, this restaurant was created to ensure individuals could eat Korean traditional food with a modern twist, in a fashionable way. CEO Bang now runs the business as a second generation where he blended food with sensual design to satisfy both the sense of sight and taste.

This savoury delicacy, Gebang Restaurant Soy Sauce Marinated Prawn, is made using chewy prawns and combined with Gebang Sikdang's signature soy sauce made from kelp, pear, mushroom, dried red pepper, dried shrimp, etc. The reason why the skin remains intact during the marination process as it acts as a barrier to control salinity. To ensure its freshness, we definitely recommend you to consume it within a few days.

The reason for its high pricing point is definitely thanks to the long amount of time taken to prepare this dish - from cleaning the prawns to simmering the sauce. Once you receive the product, carefully peel the prawn shells and cut it into bite-size pieces (as preferred) and enjoy the prawns soaked in flavourful soy sauce together with warm rice.

The SECRET to this dish lies behind the unique flavour of Cheongyang pepper and red pepper seeds. The unique pepper flavour helps to remove the prawns' fishy scent. If you are unable to consume spicy food, this is perfect as only a hint of spiciness is added in this dish.
